So Chad had no interest in going to the mall with me to stand in a ridiculously long line just to have Lily's picture taken with Santa, and I had no intentions of going by myself, but being the corny new mom that I am, I kind of really wanted it done. So, I happily obliged when my friend text me last minute to see if I would like to join her and her daughter to brave the madness of the whole Santa ordeal. Surprisingly, the line wasn't too terribly long. My friends little girl, age 2, decided she was going to have nothing to do with Santa as we got closer to him; bless her little heart... Lily did just fine, and it was a quick and painless experience. Thankfully, she's slightly too young to actually realize what's going on so I'm sure we have numerous years ahead of her being terrified of Santa with end results of waiting in a long line to either get no picture or a screaming picture(which can actually make for a rather amusing picture..) That is of course if we decide to even do the whole Santa thing. Chad and I have had the Santa talk, but still haven't come to a decision. I don't like the idea of "lying" to my child, but I have such fond memories of believing in Santa growing up. I will say, I was quite mad at my parents for lying to me when I found out, but I got over it.... I mean, part of me doesn't see the harm in pretending there's a Santa as long as it doesn't take away from the real meaning of Christmas, but another part of me doesn't even want to go there. I also worry about my kids ruining it for other kids, and getting hate calls from other parents about how my child ruined their Christmas. Yes, I'm speaking from experience. In my anger of finding out there really was no Santa, I decided to announce it at school the next day and break my little friends heart. Oh well, thankfully we have a little time to decide. Either way... Lily now has a picture taken with Santa to document her first Christmas, and a rather authentic Santa I might add.

4 Months, Granddaddy Smith, Seperation Anxiety, and Two Firsts!
So, as I suspected, I've had a bit of a rough go at the whole blog thing. I just don't know how people find the time! I still don't feel I have much to write about either.... Part of the problem is I have my expectations set a bit high. All the other blogs I read are so well worded, and so interesting. I don't feel like I can measure up. It makes me sad because writing used to be one of my strong suites, and I feel like I've lost it. Oh well, it is what it is I guess... So because I've been slacking I have a few things to actually catch up on (the few interesting things I do have to write about.) November 19th, Lily turned 4 months!! That very same day she met her Granddaddy Smith for the first time. He came for a very brief but sweet visit. Friday night he came and spoke at CR(Celebrate Recovery) at our church, and he did such a great job! We were so proud!
I know everyone says this, but I can't believe my baby girl is already 4 months! I know she's still a baby, but everyday that goes by is one day closer to her not being a baby in my mind. I really make such a point to treasure every single minute. That includes the constant drooling, the waking up numerous times a night, and the times she won't nap. I remind myself continuously that the to do list that doesn't get completed daily is worth it because these moments with her will be gone in a blink. I of course look forward to every upcoming stage, but as I've been told it's very bittersweet. I've told Chad, the solution to lessen the blow of this process is to just keep having more babies. ; ) Ha, we'll see about that... She really is the sweetest little girl, and I am so so very blessed. Being a mother, and having a child in my opinion is literally the most amazing thing in the whole world. My cup runneth over... Here are a few pictures of her 4th month weekend.
Moving on.... so on Thanksgiving we were at our family gathering, and were shocked when we handed her off to be held as numerous times before, and she literally freaked out!! It was so sad. Working in nursery, I have watched situation after situation of child-parent separation anxiety, but had no concept of how crappy it really feels. I know she needs to learn to be with other people, but I just wanted to comfort her and hold her close. It really tugs on your heart strings for sure!! I'm hoping it's a short lived stage, but chances are even if it is she'll go through it again later.
She rolled over!!! Last night she completed one of the big first mile stones! Unlike a lot of parents who can't wait for their child to roll over I was dreading it. To me it means she's growing up, and I can no longer leave her unattended on the couch or bed. Ha ha. She has yet to do it again for Daddy, and I'm in no hurry for her to do so. The little cutie looked so proud of herself though, and slightly confused. I managed to capture a few pics immediately after she did it. I'm so glad I keep the camera handy!
Lastly, today much to my surprise it actually snowed! The Meteorologists were actually right. Lily's first snow!! As usual, I am highly amused at the tizzy it puts people in around here. Coming from Wisconsin, these people have no idea..... = ) Obviously, Lily is too young to actually enjoy or understand the snow, but I had to capture the event.

Welcome to my blog
So, here I go trying my hand at the whole blog thing.... I don't even know if I have a life or events interesting enough worthy of blogging, but I thought I'd give it a shot. At the very least I can update my family and friends that are far away on what's going on in our day to day lives. Okay, maybe it's more for the Grandma's and Grandpa's than anything, the ones that actually care about poopy diapers, teething, and sleepless nights..... but anyone else who feels like following, you are more than welcome. I can't promise you that my posts will be routine or that they will even be very interesting, but I wanted to at least make an attempt. Wish me luck!! = )
